In one of the most beautiful areas of Britain you couldn't pick a nicer spot to explore this wild and wonderful countryside. On the doorstep of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons and within walking distance of the River Wye, you will never be short of something to see and do.
Scenery The dramatic Black Mountains form the eastern part of the
Brecon Beacons National Park, and provide a dramatic contrast to the Wye Valley.
They comprise a series of long heather-covered ridges, separating narrow and
remote valleys. Here the sweeping views of rugged escarpments and untamed
moorland are home to the peregrine falcon and red grouse.
Walking There are an enormous number of walks to enjoy in the area.
From the most challenging routes to a gentle stroll, there is something for
everyone to enjoy.
Driving Driving in the area also provides access to superb scenery.
Drive through the national parks (mind the sheep!) and over the mountains on
quiet country lanes that provide peaceful picnic spots with amazing views.
Towns Hay-on-Wye is the nearest town with its many bookshops
and cafes. We are also within striking distance of the lovely town
of Brecon with its Mountain Railways and visitors centers. |
